Kaweah River near Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park is about a six-hour drive from San Diego. Go farther north to near Yosemite National Park and you'll find the
Merced & Tuolumne Rivers. Near Sacramento, the
South Fork American River is the most popular whitewater river in California with great rapids and beautiful scenery. Fun for everyone. The Middle Fork American River, also near Sacramento, flows through a 2000-foot deep wilderness canyon and has a taste of Class IV (intermediate) rafting.
